The ISEE-ISES AC 2019 Organizing Committee welcomes you to experience and enjoy an exotic Korean culture full of unique attractions and wonders. You can make on-line tour reservations, which will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. All tours include the services of an English-speaking guide and transportation.

Important Notice

  1. Tour application and payment are available when you make online registration.
  2. Credit Card (VISA or Master) and CASH (USD or KRW) are acceptable.
  3. Tour programs are based on the estimated price. It is subject to change due to the local situation.
  4. Some tour programs can only operate when the minimum number of required persons reached.
  5. If minimum number of persons is not reached, the program may be cancelled, substituted by another program with notice to participants, or proceed at an altered rate with the consent of all participants.
  6. Any requests for changes or cancellations should be made separately by e-mail to the ISEE-ISES AC 2019 Secretariat until 30 August, 2019 (E-mail : isee.ises.ac.2019@gmail.com)

    Daegu Modern Alley
    Daegu’s regional characteristics and the blend of modern and historical culture are reflected through the Daegu’s Modern Alley. Daegu Alley tour provides a chance for visitors to experience the modern culture and history of Korea. Walking down the alleys, you can see the new feature of Daegu
    Seomun Night Market
    Seomun Market was and to this date remains to be one of the main markets in Daegu. The market still keeps its old alley names such as Hongdukkaejeong and Dakjeon. Seomun Market provides both historic and artistic experiences through street performances and small shops housing fabric-related items made of silk, satin, linen, cotton and knitted goods,. Visitors to the market will also find decent crafts, silver products and dried seafood. In addition, the diverse selection of sweet and savory street food would be perfect for those seeking late night snacks.

    Suseong Lake (Recreation Area)
    Suseong Lake is known for its ecotourism, the park allows both visitors and residents to take a relaxing stroll around the lake through wooden boardwalk and peddle boats. Surrounding lights give the lake warm and comfortable feelings. During the evening, the residents of Daegu gather around the music fountain, which provides nighttime performances between May and October. At a walkable distance, there is amusement park, Suseong Land, which you can enjoy activities including pirate ship and bumper car rides.
    Kim Gwangseok-gil Street
    Kim Gwangseok-gil Street is a mural street near Bangcheon Market where the now deceased Kim Gwangseok used to live. The 350m long wall has statues and murals depict his life and music. Every autumn, the area of Bangcheon Market and Dongseongro hosts a “Kim Gwangseok’s Singing Contest.”

  • Description The Andong tour is ideal if you would like to immerse yourself in traditional Korean culture.

    The first stop is a hanji-making workshop that produces a unique type of Korean paper using craftsmanship that has been passed down through the generations. With simple mulberry pulp and clean water, the workshop makes some 60 varieties of hanji.

    Next, you will visit Hahoe Folk Village, a picturesque enclave by Nakdonggang River where the ennobled Ryu clan lived for over 600 years. It is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site where you can see thatched cottages, hanok estates of the nobility, a Confucian academy, and a shrine dedicated to Grandmother Samshin, the folk goddess of childbirth, children, and fate.

  • DescriptionThe Gyeongju tour begins with a visit to Daereungwon Tumuli Park. In Daereungwon Tumuli Park Belt are located tombs and burial places of high personages including kings, queens, and nobility of the Silla period (57 BC – 935 BC). \ Next, You will visit Bulguksa Temple, the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

    The 8th century complex is considered a masterpiece of the golden age of Buddhist art in the Silla kingdom, and features seven National Treasures. The beauty of the temple and artistry of stone relics make it one of the most popular attractions for both local and foreign visitors alike.

    Following dinner, the course takes you to Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond, best enjoyed after darkness. Previously used by the crown prince during the ancient Silla Dynasty in the 7th century, Donggung Palace was also used as a banquet site for special events and to receive important visitors.

    Lit up beautifully at night, Wolji Pond (literally meaning a pond that reflects the moon) provides the perfect backdrop for stunning photos. By following the pathway that loops around the pond, you can enjoy picturesque views of Donggung Palace from all angles.
